AT&T BGW210 & BGW320 Gateways - Client Setup for New Gateway

Overview

This article uses the BGW210/BGW320 model gateway as an example but is similar to some other models. There will be differences with varying models and some use Pinhole Mode or DMZ Plus. 


Objectives

  1. Gain access to the AT&T Gateway's admin settings
  2. Send pictures of device and access code, serial number, and MAC ad to helpdesk@allyadvantage.com or 2567403900
  3. Disable firewall rules that for gateways using static IP addresses to prevent potential issues
  4. Allow pings to the gateway so we can monitor the service for outages

Access the AT&T Gateway

Obtain the access code

The Access Code is used to access the gateway settings instead of a typical user name and password
You will find the Access Code on a sticker on the gateway. See image below. Please take a picture of this and send it to helpdesk@allyadvantage.com

Access the gateway login Screen

Most the time you can gain access via the default IP address of the AT&T Gateway: 192.168.1.254
NOTE: If the internal subnet of the client is 192.168.1.0/24, then you will not be able to access the gateway at this IP.

Disable Packet Filter

  1. Go to Firewall -> Packet Filter
  2. Disable the packet filter

Allow Pings / Disable SIP ALG

  1. Go to Firewall -> Firewall Advanced and turn everything OFF.
    This allows us to ping the GW via the LAN or WAN interface.
    It also disables SIP ALG.
