This KBA will help explain how to use the Button Builder in the Ally Voice Portal.
What is Button Builder?
Button Builder is a feature in the PBX portal that allows users to configure buttons on supported phones using the User Interface.
You will need to log in to the portal using the link above, then go to Inventory > Phone Hardware > and finally, Button Builder on the extension you want to change.
2: Make the changes you need
If a blank key is Locked, it is because that key has a custom configuration set by Ally.
This is most commonly configured for General Voicemail keys as well as alternate Call Out lines.
Any changes made in button builder may wipe any secondary or shared lines due to the way custom keys must be configured.
1. If you have a sidecar attachment for additional line key space, you can add/edit it on this tab.
2. If you're not sure which key corresponds with which numbered button to edit, click on the key of the phone and it will highlight it on the right side.
3. These are the options with which you can apply many user BLF keys using a directory or if you need to clear the configured button.
To check what users will show in what order using a dynamic or static cascade, click the "Directory" in the top right corner.
You can filter the directory by All Contacts, Favorites, My Contacts, Coworkers, or Department.
You can sort the directory by Extension, First Name, or Last Name.
4. When you're done, save your changes!
It is recommended to click on the ^ button and selecting "Save and Sync" which will apply the changes immediately. Otherwise, you'd have to wait until the phone syncs with the server again. Normally that's done overnight.
1. Click the drop down to see the available options.
2. Line Appearance - This option is the call out line for the extension and is normally used only for the first line key, but there can be more if there are additional lines.
3. Shared Line Appearance - If multiple users need to share a line, this is the button that will be used.
If you have a general mailbox and want to add a line key, contact
helpdesk@allyadvantage.com to have it added for the desired extension(s).
4. User (BLF) - This button is for user extensions. You select this when you want to add a specific extension to a button.
BLF stands for Busy Lamp Field, which is the indicator light that will show on the key when the user is available or busy.
5. Call Park - These are reserved for the Call Park queues.
6. Speed Dial - Use this when you want to add a custom dial to a button.
Most commonly used to dial commonly used external numbers with a single key press.
7. DTMF - Very rarely used on button builder but it is used in touch-tone phones.
8. Queue Toggle - This button option will log you out of a queue if you are in one.
9. Timeframe Toggle - This button is used to manually disable a custom time frame.
