Button Builder

Button Builder

This KBA will help explain how to use the Button Builder in the Ally Voice Portal.

Begin by logging into the Ally Voice Portal.

Step 1: Navigating to the Button Builder screen

You will need to log in to the portal using the link above, then go to Inventory, Phone Hardware, and finally, Button Builder on the extension you want to change.

Step 2: Make the changes you need

1. If they have a sidecar, you can add it here and configure it similar to the way we do a regular phone.
2. If you're not sure which button corresponds with which physical phone button, click on the button here and it will highlight it on the right side.
3. These are the options which you can edit the button if using a directory or need to clear the button.
4. When you're done. You can save it. I recommend clicking on the ^ button and selecting "Save and Sync" which will apply the changes immediately. Otherwise, you'd have to wait until the phone syncs with the server again. Normally that's done overnight.

Step 3: Different Button Options

1. Click the drop down to see the available options.
2. Line Appearance - This option is the call out line for the extension and is normally used only for the button 1 but can be more if there are additional lines.
3. Shared Line Appearance - If multiple users need to share a line or a general mailbox, this is the button that will be used.
4. User (BLF) - This button is for extensions. You select this when you want to add a specific extension to a button.
5. Call Park - These are reserved for the Call Park queues.
6. Speed Dial - Use this when you want to add a custom dial to a button.
7. DTMF - Very rarely used on button builder but it is used in touch-tone phones
8. Queue Toggle - This button option will log you out of a queue if you are in one.
9. Timeframe Toggle - This button is used to manually disable the labeled time frame
